The 2020 Rezvani Tank adopts to the JK Wrangler platform

Think the Mercedes G 63 AMG 6x6 and Land Rover Defender are the most awesome Sport Ute? Think again.

One might need to know what the Rezvani Tank is in the first place. It debuted for 2017 on the previous Jeep JL Wrangler platform. It followed the Beast, which is literary an open top body carbon fiber body that covers over an Ariel Atom. Rezvani Motors produces the Beast as a turnkey vehicle, as well as will convert an owner’s Ariel Atom.

In June 2015, Rezvani unveiled the production version of its supercar allowing customers to order the car with an 8- to 12-week production process. Entertainer Chris Brown purchased the first one in 2015 for $200,000. The car was used in the filming of Brown's single "Liquor." The 500-horsepower street-legal race car has no doors, no roof, and weighs just 1,650 pounds. Entertainer Enrique Iglesias drove the Beast Alpha in his music video "El Baño". Production for the Beast is done in a 50,000-square-foot facility the company operates in Santa Ana, California.

Razvani unveiled its extreme utility vehicle named TANK in November 2017. It’s designed to be a military style truck for the road. Some of the key features of the TANK are as follows: optional ballistic armor bullet proof to B4 and B7 Levels, EMP Protection (military-grade electromagnetic pulse protection), glass and all opaque armor, firewall, bomb protection, reinforced suspension, Military Runflat Tires, Intercom System and is powered by a 6.4L V8 Dodge Hemi engine and on demand 4 wheel drive.

The TANK Military has more advanced options such as a thermal night vision system, bullet proof glass rated at up to Ballistic level 7 (high caliber weapons including armor piercing rounds), composite armor around the passengers, a rear tack dispenser, electrified door handles, magnetic dead bolts, blinding lights, gas masks, hypothermia kit, hidden radiator, and kevlar wrapped fuel tank. It’s built in the US in Rezvani's Irvine, California facility. Owners include Jamie Foxx, Rampage Jackson and Chris Brown (obviously Razvani most loyal customer to date).

Ditching the old bones of the previous-generation Jeep Wrangler JK, the Rezvani Tank enters the 2020 model year on the latest JL underpinnings of America’s iconic off-roader. The Wrangler JK debut in 2018, with the Gladiator following as a 2019 model. While a standard Jeep Wrangler lists for less than $30,000, it takes some serious moola to get to acquire a Tank, as the base model kicks off at $155,000. Opting for the armored Tank Military Edition will set you back $295,000. As for the flagship Tank X (a.k.a. the “off-road supercar,”), it fetches a stunning starting price of $349,000.

The crown jewel of the range is powered by the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine found in in the Dodge Challenger Demon Red Eye, yet further upgraded to deliver (in Hennessey style) more than 1,000 horsepower and 870 pound-feet of torque. With these impressive output numbers, Rezvani says the revamped Tank is now the “most powerful production SUV in the world.”

Options for this ludicrously expensive Sport Ute include a thermal night vision system for an extra $6,500, automatic side steps for $2,500, and an interior lighting package for $2,500. Rezvani will be more than happy to throw in an upgraded off-road race-ready FOX suspension for $12,500, a full leather interior for $5,500, as well as other miscellaneous goodies like heated and cooled seats.

If you really want to get close to the $400,000 mark, a $12,500 Focal sound system is available, as are $850 side cameras, a dual $2,500 battery setup, a $7,500 auxiliary gas tank, and even a $6,250 glitzy headliner in the same vein as Rolls-Royce offers.

The base 2020 Tank can be had with a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine delivering 285- horsepower, but Rezvani points out that it’s strictly for export models. Also offered is a naturally aspirated FCA sourced Penestar 3.6-liter V6, rated at 285 hp and a beefier 6.4-liter V8 with 500 hp on tap, while a 3.0-liter V6 diesel pumps out 285 hp. As for the aforementioned Tank Military Edition, the company’s configurator lists the model as being available with the 500-hp V8, the 285-hp diesel, and the Demon-sourced 1,000-hp mill is a whopping $149,000 option.

The revised Tank has gone through quite a few changes; probably the most noticeable one is the switch to front-hinged rear doors (now with proper handles). This over-the-top UTE has gained protection against electromagnetic pulses (EMP) for an extra $2,500, so in theory, it’s ready to face Armageddon.

It was the Bantam Jeep that help win WWII. The Persian Gulf War put the AM Hummer on the map. Though the TANK comes with a lofty price tag (what military vehicle doesn’t) our armed forces might want to take a look at this “urban guerilla” for its next ground force replacement.

Pre-ordered deliverers of the 2020 model will commence this fall. New orders are also being taken (with a $2,500 refundable deposit), including for vehicles with right-hand drive.
